Audio-Visual Brainwave Entrainment (AVE) is a scientifically validated device-based
method for altering, balancing, and safely normalizing the processes of
excitation and inhibition in the brain. Through glasses with built-in LEDs and
headphones, specific rhythms of light and sound pulsations are delivered to the brain. By
changing the rhythm and other parameters of this natural sensory stimulation, a
gradual shift in brain arousal is encouraged towards situationally appropriate
states such as deep relaxation, sleep, calm concentration, or energizing and
toning the nervous system.
Through the process of entrainment (the tendency of physiological processes
to respond to rhythmic stimuli from the environment and synchronize adaptively with the frequency of their rhythm) AVE promotes the appropriate level of brain arousal, increases blood supply to the cerebral cortex,
boosts glucose metabolism in the brain, stimulates the release of beneficial
neurotransmitters and communication between neurons. The combined result of
all these effects of AVE leads to improved cerebral, mental, and cognitive
functioning – without the negative chemical side effects associated with taking
medications.
